What is Tae Kwon Do?
Tae Kwon Do is the Korean art of self defence.
Translated literally Tae Kwon Do means the art or method of kicking and punching.
- Tae means to kick with foot
- Kwon means to strike with hand
- Do means the way of the art
Tenants of Tae Kwon Do
- Courtesy: to be polite and respectful
- Integrity: to be honest with yourself
- Perseverence: never giving up
- Self Control: to be master of your own impulses
- Indomitable Spirit: never wanting to give up
Tae Kwon Do Pledge
To train both mind and body through Taekwondo
- To be a courageous opponent against all untruths
- To promote a friendly relationship amongst all people
- To follow all the rules of Taekwondo and my instructor
